Digital Accessibility Forum

The event was held on 19 November 2009 and it drew 106 participants from varied backgrounds including people with disabilities, caregivers, teachers, therapists, web developers and designers. 1pm - 5.00pm	Best Practices for Web Accessibility and Conformance Techniques Ms Shawn Henry Chair of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG) highlights how people with disabilities can use the web and essential components in making the web accessible provides the essential foundation that web developers require to make their websites accessible. It introduces the international standards/guidelines from the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) and illustration on usage of resources introduces the basics of web accessibility gives tips on how to get existing web projects up to speed with web accessibility
	Developing Digital Accessibility Information System (DAISY) and Content Ms Mayu Hamada DAISY Creator / Trainer Daisy Consortium provides lessons on the playback of full-text and full-audio DAISY books with AMIS (free and open source playback software) provides lessons on how to create DAISY books from Word file (Save as DAISY translator and Pipeline) includes a sharing session on how DAISY content creation can accommodate persons with intellectual, cognitive or psychiatric disabilities
	Creating Accessible PDF Content Mr Felix Goh Systems Engineer Education Adobe Systems Pte Ltd the Importance of making accessible PDFs gives tips on how to make PDF accessible with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to create accessible PDF document, forms, etc offers best practices for accessible Flash design/websites tells you where to get tools & support information for Adobe software & content introduces how Adobe is being used in education
