The event was held on 19 November 2009 and it drew 106 participants from varied backgrounds including people with disabilities, caregivers, teachers, therapists, web developers and designers. Provided training for professionals involved in development of digital information such as websites, Digital Talking Books, PDF documents.
We presented a summary of the findings of a recent baseline study conducted by SPD, which showed that more can be done to improve local website accessibility. Of 89 public and 73 private websites sampled, 34 percent had at least one web page that showed no errors (as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium Web Accessibility Initiative) when put through accessibility evaluation tool; only 7 percent had at least four pages that showed no errors.
