Training Path and Certification

The Infocomm Accessbility Centre (IAC) is Singapore's first centre to provide training in infocomm technology across disability types. Specially equipped with a wide range of assistive technology devices, the IAC understands and provides for the needs of people with various disabilities, including physical disabilities, visual impairment, hearing impairment and developmental disabilities. Training Path

Empowering People with Disabilities

Empowering people with disabilities through structured information technology training and certification.

Anyone who is interested in signing up for training at the IAC is required to undergo consultation and assessment for assistive technology (A T). A range of A T equipment is available for loan at the A T Loan Library for those found to require A T equipment to assist them in using the computer.

The IAC provides training in foundational I T skills for an enhanced quality of life, and in generic I T skills to equip people with disabilities for the workplace. Trainees who eventually go under the I T Apprenticeship Programme can also stand to gain specialised information communication technology skills useful in open employment.

Certification

After acquiring the skills learned in the basic course, trainees can opt to take the exam leading to the:

  1. Internet and Computing Core Certification
    Certiport's Internet and Computing Core Certification covers a broad range of computing knowledge and skills that proves competency in the areas described below. Individuals seeking this certification are required to take and pass all three Internet and Computing Core Certification exams: Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications, and Living Online.

  2. Microsoft Certified Application Specialist Certification
    Microsoft Certified Application Specialist is the official Microsoft Office certification for desktop productivity. Exam skill standards are categories of examination tasks, identified by subject-matter experts that certify an ability to productively use Microsoft Office programmes. These categories are organised into skill sets representing the more basic functions of each Office program.

  3. Adobe Certified Associate Certification
    Adobe Certified Associate provides trainees with credential in digital media work. This is industry recognised credentials which will give confidence to trainees when they are seeking work.
